Sun spiral copper pendant.
A handmade copper Sun Spiral pendant, created to represent the warmth, movement and ever changing cycles of life.
At the heart of this piece sits a flowing spiral, surrounded by radiating rays. The spiral is an ancient and enduring symbol found throughout the natural world and in prehistoric art, often associated with movement, growth, transformation and the cyclical nature of life. In Irish megalithic art, spiral motifs are particularly prominent, and spirals have also been interpreted in connection with the movement and cycles of the sun.
The sun has long represented life, light, warmth, vitality and renewal. Bringing the sun and spiral together creates a symbol of energy that continually moves outward — a reminder that life is always changing, growing and returning to new beginnings.
For me, the Sun Spiral carries the feeling of light after darkness, growth through change, and the reminder that every cycle brings a new beginning.
Each ray has been individually shaped and wrapped by hand, giving the pendant its own organic character. The copper is oxidised and hand polished, allowing darker tones to remain within the texture and recessed areas while the raised copper catches the light.
